Day 3 - The Test

At the end of the LONG morning ride
This was my sweet reward for 3 tough days. Splendid.

Coach Gordo suggested that at some time in the build for UMC that I swim long on Day one followed by back to back long rides. So I rode long on Day Two. Day Two evening I hydrated and rested as much as possible. Day Three alarm went off at 6:30am. Laid there in bed recognizing that I had some serious fatigue and everything kind of hurt.

My plan was very shortsighted. I was going to get out of bed. Load up with breakfast, get fully caffeinated, load the bike sled, and start riding.
Some folks are built to be fast. I'm not one of those folks. What I rely on is determination, an addictive personality (I can't do anything halfway), and ADHD. Works for me and I would need all of it today.
Rolled out east towards UCF. I was unaware of the gazillion people descending on UCF for graduation. Rolled (slowly) through the University then south down Alafaya Trail. Wind was out of the south at 10mph, so tough riding. JulieJ has discovered a perfectly dreadful new piece of tarmac called Innovation Way. It is unshaded and tours between the power plant, trash dump, the prison, and a industrial park. Did two loops in the windy heat and it was time to start working my way towards home. Got buzzed by a sanitation truck for the third! time on Alafaya.

Made my way home with 84 miles. Interestingly, I had lower average heart rate (131) and averaged 18mph. Both less than Day two. This is typically a signof fatigue and I was.

Now off to New Smyrna for some ocean swimming, rest, and goofing off.
