Ultraman Mock Day 1 - Check
What a wonderful day. Ultra crew arrived at Lake Conway at 6:00AM to start the day off with a 3 hour swim. After 30 minutes of preparing for the swim and transition to bike, Trung, Jamie and Sway headed out into the glass lake - not a ripple to be found. The sun was just coming up over the horizon...absolutely beautiful. Cherie did a wonderful job keeping me on target and providing me with my nutrition. We stuck to our plan...eload/carbopro every 20 minutes; hammer gel every 20 minutes; thermolytes every hour; 4oz muscle milk at 1:20 and 2:20; sips of coffee here and there. Kept a steady pace for the entire swim...2:57 total time...distance 5.3 miles. Consistent 6/10 of a mile each 20 minutes. Ran into my hubby somewhere in the lake, gave a quick kiss and kept on going. Felt like I was playing "Eye Spy". Saw a fishing rod, golf ball, hat, beer cans, dixie cups, bricks, fish beds, turtles, fish and lots more. At the end of the swim I felt great. Was great to have Elizabeth and Rajesh there helping me out of the water...this is definitely a TEAM effort!! Ate a pb&j as I was being lathered with sunscreen before heading out on the bike...thanks momma Sherri! :-) Legs felt a bit fatigued as we started the bike ride. Was fun to be riding with Trung, Jamie and Candice. Finally found my rhythm after about 5 miles. Weather was a little overcast but not too hot...almost perfect for a summer day in Orlando. As we headed out on our bikes the crew headed out in the cars to Moss Park. Trung and I road most of the ride together sticking to our nutrition plan. We refueled every 12 miles, thermolytes every hour, 4oz muscle milk every 90minutes, Zbar, and eload/carbopro bottle every hour. Kept a nice steady pace around 20mph for entire ride...HR avg 125. The crew was awesome making sure we had everything we needed. Rajesh drew the line at helping me apply my sports slick. :-) We came up with a new version of "Pants on the ground"...."Hands in your pants, hands in your pants...what you all doing with your hands in your pants" Cut the ride short at 67 miles due to thunderstorms/lightning. Ended the day at Chef Sherri's house for dinner...best part of the day...corn pancakes, cheese potatos (mmmmmmm), mac-n-cheese, salad, chicken, mushrooms. Home...everything prepped for day two...100mile ride....Day 1 done...time for bed! Cheers! Sway
